Bastille has unveiled a new two-track release titled & Part Two, which includes the singles "Blue Sky & The Painter" and "Leonard & Marianne". These tracks are part of their upcoming album & (Ampersand), set to be released on October 25, 2024. Frontman Dan Smith describes this project as a collection of story songs that weave tales around fascinating figures from various fields such as history, mythology, and pop culture.

The single "Blue Sky & The Painter" draws inspiration from renowned Norwegian expressionist painter Edvard Munch and explores themes of depression and creativity. The song aims to shine a light on finding hope after dark periods. Additionally, "Leonard & Marianne" is a poignant love song affected by the relationship between Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen, showcasing longing and loss.

Along with this release, Bastille has launched "MUSES: An Ampersand Podcast," hosted by Smith and academic Emma Nagouse, which will delve into the lives of the individuals that influenced the songs in the album. This podcast is set to premiere on September 18 and promises a blend of music, history, and storytelling.

To celebrate the release of & (Ampersand), Bastille will tour seven global cities in November, including performances in Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, and London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.
