Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst recently shared details about the band's upcoming album, 'Five Dice, All Threes', in an interview with NME. This marks the band's 11th album and their second following their 2020 comeback effort, 'Down In The Weeds Where The World Once Was'. Oberst collaborated on the project with Cat Power and Matt Berninger of The National, with contributions also from Alex Levine of Brooklyn’s own So So Glos.
The album is described as having a more lighthearted approach compared to its predecessor, featuring a shift towards rock and roll sounds. Oberst mentioned that the songwriting process for this record stemmed from casual jam sessions at his home, where he and Levine wrote songs together. The album was teased with two leading singles: "Bells And Whistles" and "Rainbow Overpass", which showcase the new direction in their musical style.
Oberst also addressed his views on societal issues ranging from the upcoming U.S. presidential elections to the impact of technology and public figures. He criticized Elon Musk, branding him a “megalomaniac” and expressed strong opinions against artificial intelligence in art. The album is set to drop on September 20, and will be followed by a UK and European tour beginning in November, including shows in major cities like London, Berlin, and Oslo.
