Chris Braide, known as the lead singer of the Downes Braide Association and a seasoned producer, has unveiled his new album, There Was A Time - The Songs of Marc Bolan, paying tribute to his childhood music hero, Marc Bolan, and his influential band T-Rex. The album features Braide's renditions of 11 tracks from Bolan's extensive repertoire, focusing on lesser-known songs rather than the classics typically associated with the artist.
To accompany the album's release, Braide has shared a video for his take on the 1971 song "Cosmic Dancer." The discography of Bolan has always inspired Braide; he first discovered Bolan's music in the late 1980s through T-Rex's Electric Warrior. As he delved deeper into Bolan's career, Braide and his friend Thomo stumbled upon hidden tracks from the late 1970s that captivated him more than the mainstream hits.
As Braide explains, There Was A Time... serves not merely as a tribute but as a celebration of Bolan's legacy. He played most of the instruments on the album himself, supported by Ash Soan on drums and Andy Hodge on bass. The album is now available for free digital streaming and download through various music service providers.
