East Carolina University (ECU) is looking to fill the position of Sound Designer/Collaborative Musician within its School of Theatre and Dance. This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about theatre and dance, and it involves a dynamic mix of production, teaching, and collaboration with students.

In this position, the Sound Designer/Collaborative Musician will spend 45% of their time on production responsibilities, such as serving as Sound Designer and Sound Technician for various productions, including those at the ECU/Loessin Playhouse. Teaching is another critical component, accounting for 20% of the role. The candidate will engage with Design and Production Majors and Minors, imparting knowledge about sound design. Additionally, the collaborative aspect emphasizes the need for a musician to serve as an accompanist for dance classes, making up 35% of the duties.

ECU values excellence, professionalism, artistic risk, and community engagement, which are integral to the training students receive in theatre and dance. The position requires a minimum educational qualification of a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sound Design and a preference for experience in collaborative music.
