Interview: Ivan Michael Blackstock
Ivan Michael Blackstock, a choreographer and dance artist, discusses the creation of his award-winning show Traplord, which explores the complexities of Black masculinity in crisis. Drawing from personal and socio-political experiences growing up in Peckham, Blackstock combines dance, physical theatre, and spoken word to present emotional narratives seldom seen in mainstream portrayals of Black men. Blackstock aims to evoke deep emotional responses and provide a nuanced perspective on the experiences of young Black men in London.
