Jane's Addiction has released a new single titled "True Love" on September 18, 2024, just days after canceling their North American tour following a dramatic onstage altercation. The incident occurred during a performance in Boston, where lead singer Perry Farrell attempted to strike guitarist Dave Navarro, raising concerns about the band's future.

The release features original members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins, marking their first original material together since 1990. “True Love” follows an earlier release, "Imminent Redemption." The single's arrival comes amidst turmoil, as the band faces uncertainty regarding upcoming recordings due to internal conflicts.

The non-singing members publicly attributed much of the chaos to Farrell, emphasizing the need for him to seek help. They expressed disappointment over not being able to fulfill their fans' expectations, stating, "We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis."

In response, Farrell acknowledged his actions were inexcusable, apologizing to his bandmates and fans. In a reflective post on Instagram, Navarro discussed the importance of recognizing life's cycles, drawing parallels between Jane's Addiction's journey and Walt Whitman’s literary exploration in "Leaves of Grass." He remarked on the lessons learned through grief and artistic evolution.

With this new release and the controversies surrounding the band, fans are left to wonder what the future holds for one of alternative rock’s pivotal groups. To listen to "True Love," visit SPIN.
