Jane's Addiction, the iconic Los Angeles alt-rock band, has announced a hiatus and the cancellation of their ongoing tour due to mental health issues affecting lead singer Perry Farrell. This decision follows an onstage altercation between Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a performance in Boston, where tensions escalated to a physical confrontation leading to the show being cut short.

The band recently returned to their original lineup comprising Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery, marking their first new music together in 34 years with the single "Imminent Redemption". They had just started a series of UK shows and were set for a US tour alongside Love & Rockets. However, the internal strife has forced them to halt all upcoming performances, including a scheduled gig in Bridgeport on September 15.

In a candid statement shared with fans, the band expressed their concerns for Farrell's personal health and safety, stating there is no viable solution that would allow for safe and effective performances. They emphasized the need for Farrell to seek help, explaining that his ongoing difficulties, including issues related to tinnitus, have taken a toll on both him and the band.

Fans became increasingly worried as Navarro's recent social media posts hinted at turmoil within the group, including a cryptic "Goodnight" message and the members unfollowing each other online. Farrell's wife, Etty Lau, also noted the rising tensions among the members, attributing some of Farrell’s frustrations to issues he faced during performances.

Jane's Addiction's hiatus raises questions about the future of the influential band, which has had a significant impact on the alt-rock genre and beyond.
