The Archdiocese of Detroit is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Musician of Sacred Music. This crucial role involves supporting the Director of Sacred Music in enhancing the parish music program, ensuring that congregational participation during liturgies is vibrant and meaningful.
The selected candidate will work a full-time schedule, totaling 40 hours per week, and will have direct involvement in leading or accompanying various ensembles at multiple liturgical services. Key responsibilities include conducting hymns and musical selections for Mass, weddings, and funerals, as well as coordinating music selections and rehearing with choirs. The Assistant Musician will also handle liturgical duties during the Director’s time off and will be involved in both the musical and administrative aspects of the church's musical offerings.
Candidates must demonstrate strong relational and communication skills, and a Master’s Degree in Music or Sacred Music is required along with a minimum of three years of experience in music ministry. Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, is also necessary for performing these duties.
