The University of Portland is currently seeking a Wind Symphony/Pep Band Manager to join its Performing & Fine Arts department. This position is ideal for students who are involved in the university's Wind Symphony and Pep Band, as it requires active participation in both ensembles. The role encompasses a variety of logistical duties, including the preparation of rehearsal spaces and performance venues.

Managers are expected to arrive early to set up chairs, music stands, and percussion equipment before rehearsals and concerts. This preparation is essential for ensuring a smooth start, allowing members time to warm-up before beginning. After rehearsals, the manager will also take responsibility for dismantling the setup and returning equipment to their proper places.

In addition to managing logistics, the Wind Symphony/Pep Band Manager will collaborate closely with the conductor, assisting in any capacity required. On game days, there may also be additional requests from the Athletics Department, emphasizing the importance of flexibility in this role.

Candidates for this position should have a commitment to the ensembles, having been a member for at least a year and should possess the ability to carry out physical tasks, such as moving pianos and lifting equipment. As the role aligns with student employment terms, it is scheduled for about 3-5 hours weekly with an hourly wage set at the Portland Metro Minimum Wage of $15.95.
