Meta is searching for a technically-oriented Sound Designer to enhance its award-winning Creative Audio team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of social virtual reality within Meta's Horizon platform. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Sound Design team while collaborating with engineering, art, and product design partners to define sound functionality, create advanced implementations, optimize performance, and troubleshoot challenging issues.

The role focuses on critical thinking and problem-solving, allowing for creativity and innovation in immersive audio solutions. Responsibilities include designing strategies for unique audio opportunities, engaging with multi-functional teams to enhance user experiences, and maintaining a supportive environment for other sound designers.

Minimum qualifications for applicants encompass at least four years of professional sound design experience, especially in high-quality games or interactive environments. Expertise in advanced scripting (C#, JavaScript) and modifying game engines (Unity, Unreal) is also essential, along with sound middleware experience (Wwise, FMOD) and familiarity with version control systems (Git, Perforce).

Candidates with preferred qualifications should have experience in AR/VR development, working knowledge of spatialized audio, and a strong grasp of object-oriented design principles. A solid understanding of 3D math and real-time networking is advantageous. This role will allow you to advocate for audio quality across the product, making it an enriching opportunity for professionals looking to innovate in the audio sector.
