Lil Wayne has voiced his disappointment in not being selected for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, set to take place in his hometown of New Orleans. Kendrick Lamar was announced as the headliner earlier this week, prompting Wayne to share his feelings in a heartfelt video posted on Instagram. In the footage, he expressed, "That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown."

Wayne’s connection to the event is particularly strong due to its location, as he stated, "I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, and that platform in my city. It broke me." He took a moment to thank his fans for their support, adding, "Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back. I’m just trying to put me back together."

Nicki Minaj also came to Wayne's defense on social media, emphasizing his substantial influence on hip-hop. She remarked, "You don't know the half of what Lil Wayne has done for me & others. He was on all of my mixtapes w/no papers signed. This man has literally changed the FACE of hip hop."

Super Bowl LIX will occur on February 9, 2025, sparking significant discussions surrounding artist selections for the Halftime Show. Amid this debate, Kendrick Lamar has also released a new song.
