Matt Berry has officially announced his upcoming album, titled Heard Noises, set to release on January 24th via Acid Jazz Records. This marks Berry's first full studio album following the acclaimed The Blue Elephant, which debuted in 2021. Over his 15-year career, the multi-talented artist has gained recognition not only for his contributions as a comedic actor but also for his impressive solo catalogue as a songwriter.
While last year saw Berry release a one-off album of library music through the KPM label, Heard Noises is poised to highlight an evolution in his artistic expression with fully fleshed-out songwriting. The new record presents a looser and more collaborative approach compared to its predecessor. Notable guest contributors include Eric D. Johnson of The Shins and Fruit Bats, actress Natasha Lyonne, and even a choir featuring Berry's mother.
Berry's latest single, I Gotta Limit, showcases a collaboration with English singer Kitty Liv, whose voice interlocks seamlessly with Berry's. The entire album will be available in various formats, including digital, standard sky blue vinyl, and exclusive editions, such as Rough Trade's Serenity Blue vinyl and a deluxe CD featuring two bonus tracks, Snake Organ and Screaming Walls.
The tracklist for Heard Noises includes:
- Side One:
- Why On Fire?
- Silver Rings
- Interlude
- Be Alarmed
- I Gotta Limit (feat. Kitty Liv)
- Wedding Photo Stranger
- Stay On The Ground
- Side Two:
- I Entered As I Came (feat. Natasha Lyonne)
- There Are Monsters
- To Live For What Once Was
- Canada Dry
- The Snakes Will Slide
- Interlude 2
- Sky High
Fans can look forward to this new venture coming up later this month, marking a significant return to Berry's lyrical and musical storytelling capabilities.
