Matt Berry has announced the release of his new album, Heard Noises, which is set to drop on January 24, 2025. This marks Berry's eighth studio album, following his well-received 2021 project, The Blue Elephant. The lead single from the album, titled "I Gotta Limit," features vocals from Kitty Liv of Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis. This new track showcases a sound that leans into 1960s psychedelic pop, a departure from the psych exploration of his previous work.

The single reflects a narrative of longing, as Berry's character seeks a second chance with a woman who is growing impatient with his pleas. Musically, "I Gotta Limit" draws inspiration from Sly Stone, delivering an instantly catchy blend of Northern Soul and psychedelic elements within just over three minutes of runtime.

In contrast to The Blue Elephant, which was noted for its intricate exploration of British psych and Freakbeat, Heard Noises is described as a more relaxed journey into Californian psychedelia. The album features contributions from notable artists including Eric D. Johnson of The Shins and actress Natasha Lyonne. Berry plays most of the instruments himself, including guitars, bass, and various keyboards.

Heard Noises will be released through Acid Jazz Records and is available for pre-order now, featuring a vinyl edition with a psychedelic swirl design. The complete tracklist highlights a thoughtful sequencing intended to create an immersive listening experience, making it a recommended listen for fans of the genre.
