Srgio Mendes has died, aged 83
Srgio Mendes, a prominent figure in Brazilian music and a pioneer of the bossa nova genre, passed away at the age of 83 in Los Angeles. His family was by his side as he faced health challenges from long-term Covid. Mendes was instrumental in popularizing Brazilian music globally, especially through his group Brasil '66, known for their hit covers in the late 1960s. He had a prolific career with over 40 studio albums, the last being 'In The Key Of Joy' released in 2020.
