St. Mary's School is currently seeking a highly qualified Instructional Music Teacher for their middle school program. This full-time position is for a talented individual who will be dedicated to providing general musical instruction as well as ensemble-based classes to students in grades 5 through 8. The new teacher will collaborate with the Arts Department and the International Baccalaureate (IB) team to develop a curriculum that aligns with the IB years programme.
Key responsibilities include leading general music classes that cover a variety of musical skills, theory, and composition, as well as conducting groups such as choirs and bands. The role requires the teacher to meet after school for rehearsals leading up to performances at seasonal concerts, sporting events, and other school-related occasions.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in music education or performance, as well as a minimum of three years' teaching experience in a K-12 setting. Experience within the IB framework is preferred, especially with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or Primary Years Programme (PYP). The ideal applicant should also be comfortable instructing a range of instruments and vocal ensembles, and familiarity with digital music production software is a plus.
