Finnish doom metal band Swallow The Sun has unveiled their latest single, "MelancHoly," alongside a visually striking music video. The track showcases the band's signature fusion of progressive, metal, and gothic influences, and is described by the group as an "anthemic" offering. This release acts as a precursor to their forthcoming album, titled "Shining," set to be released on October 18 through Century Media Records.

Guitarist Juha Raivio explained the thematic depth of "MelancHoly," stating, "This song talks about how melancholy can be comforting, safe, and even a beautiful place. But when it turns into your God, it will surely kill you." The band's vocalist, Mikko Kotamki, added insight into contemporary music vernacular, stating, "I've heard these days people call great and catchy songs bangers. Well, this one truly is one."

"Shining" was produced and mixed by Dan Lancaster, known for his work with prominent acts such as Bring Me the Horizon and Muse. Mastering was completed by Tony Lindgren, renowned for his work at Fascination Street Studios. Following the album's release, Swallow The Sun will host a unique event at the Aleksanterin Teatteri in Helsinki on October 16, where attendees will have the opportunity to listen to the album in its entirety prior to its official launch. Tickets for the event are available for pre-order.
