Swedish House Mafia's iconic track 'Don't You Worry Child' celebrates its 12th anniversary, marking a significant moment in the dance music landscape. Released in 2012, this track served as the supergroup's final single before their brief hiatus in early 2013. Featured on their compilation album Until Now, it is remembered for its emotional resonance driven by the powerful vocal performance of Swedish singer John Martin.

The backstory of 'Don't You Worry Child' is as compelling as its widespread success. Written in May 2010 by John Martin and Michel Zitron, the song's chorus was inspired by Zitron's reflection on his challenging family life in Stockholm. The poignant lyrics capture the essence of young love and were initially part of another project before finding its way to Swedish House Mafia.

In December 2010, Martin and Zitron sent the demo to Sebastian Ingrosso, who was so moved by the song that he shared it with Axwell and Steve Angello. The emotional response from Axwell led to the group's decision to incorporate the track into their live set. Despite a protracted production timeline, marked by personal tensions within the group, 'Don't You Worry Child' debuted at the Future Music Festival in Australia and was later first aired on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show in August 2012.

The song quickly soared through the charts, debuting at number one in the UK with 135,000 sales in its first week, ultimately reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, making it Swedish House Mafia's only top ten hit. To date, it has sold over three million copies in the U.S. and more than 5.5 million copies worldwide. The accompanying music video, filmed at their last UK performance at Milton Keynes, has amassed over one billion views on YouTube, underscoring the track's enduring appeal in the dance music genre. As enthusiasts reflect on the past twelve years, the legacy of 'Don't You Worry Child' continues to thrive in clubs and festivals worldwide.
