The renowned rock band The Darkness has revealed plans to release their new studio album titled 'Dreams On Toast' in March 2025. Riding a wave of renewed interest, thanks in part to support from pop sensation Taylor Swift, who propelled the band to No. 1 on the Stateside iTunes rock charts, The Darkness is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting year.
Frontman Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts on the upcoming release, stating, "You know that thing when God's breath tickles your soul and tells you to create? Yeah, makes me giggle too. But you can't resist. God might not be the power she once was, but say what you like about her, she knows damn well that what the world needs now is rock sweet rock."
The band has revealed plans to deliver a dozen tracks that reflect their signature style, with Hawkins noting the experience behind the album's creation. He humorously suggested that there was an element of divine inspiration involved, driving them to craft what they believe are elite songs.
In conjunction with the album release, The Darkness is offering pre-orders now, which include access to their March tour alongside Northern Irish band Ash. The first single from the album, "The Longest Kiss," has already been made available. It features a thumping, early 70s rock sound with influences reminiscent of Paul McCartney's Wings, all wrapped in an infectious energy.
Hawkins shared that inspiration struck while he was in the Scottish highland town of Nairn, and details some of the personal experiences that influenced the lyrical content. He also noted that while there are connections to a long-standing musical project he's been working on concerning the collapse of the Lowestoft fishing industry, the new single stands distinct.
