The Kills, the iconic duo composed of Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart, have announced the release of their latest EP titled Happier Girls sessions, set to drop on September 20th. This follows the successful launch of their album God Games released in Autumn 2022, which saw the band perform electrifying shows across both the U.S. and Europe.

The new EP is said to showcase a different side of the band by adopting a stripped-back, acoustic format, contrasting with the electrifying tracks of God Games. In addition to their original songs, the EP includes a tender acoustic rendition of Billie Eilish's popular track, "Happier Than Ever." This cover was initially performed during a session for Sirius XM before making its way to streaming platforms.

Explaining the decision to cover Eilish's song, Alison Mosshart shared, "It's all Sirius XM's fault. We were asked to do an acoustic session with them last year and they'd asked for a cover as part of the session. I'd always really dug 'Happier Than Ever' and found myself singing it around the house all the time. It seemed like a good choice."

Laurence Bell from Domino Records was impressed by the acoustic version and requested an electric recording, leading to the inclusion of the electric cover in a predominantly acoustic EP.

The tracklist for the Happier Girls EP is as follows:

  1. Happier Than Ever
  2. 103 (Non-Electric)
  3. New York (Non-Electric)
  4. Better Days (Non-Electric)
  5. My Girls My Girls (Non-Electric)

Fans can look forward to an EP that balances the band's electrifying essence with a softer acoustic sound, reaffirming their versatility as artists. For more information or to pre-order the EP, visit the Domino Music website.
