Upwork is currently looking for an audio engineer to help create a single episode of a true crime podcast. This role presents a unique and fun challenge as the episode will be featured as background audio in a satirical, browser-based game that focuses on the state of the internet and online content. The goal is to produce an audio experience that embodies the essence of true crime while integrating playful elements into the content.

The specifications for the podcast episode are intriguing—aiming for a length of approximately 45 minutes that includes fake ad reads. The episode will narrate a fictitious murder story, and the audio engineering should feel professional yet playful, as it navigates the spectrum between casual and high-quality productions like the renowned "Serial" podcast. To aid in the creative vision, references such as the “Animal Instincts” episode of the podcast Criminals are encouraged to emulate the desired sound and atmosphere.

In terms of voice work, the episode will include 1-4 actors to depict various characters, like witnesses, police officers, and family members, engaging in a formatted script. Sound effects are a crucial part of this process, contributing to the immersive experience. Additionally, there will be a need for neatly layered ads voiced by the host, enhancing the overall narrative without overshadowing it.

The introduction and theme music are still to be decided; a custom theme could be created or a royalty-free option selected. This job presents a remarkable opportunity for audio engineers who have a knack for storytelling through sound.
