Wild Up: Tiny Desk Concert
The new music ensemble Wild Up, led by artistic director Christopher Rountree, performed a Tiny Desk concert featuring a piece by the influential but often overlooked composer Julius Eastman. Traveling from California, they showcased a 15-minute arrangement of Eastman's 'Stay On It'. Eastman's works, celebrated for their experimental nature, challenge listeners to reconsider sound and context. Rountree emphasized the transformational experience of performing Eastman's music, highlighting its personal impact on musicians. Wild Up recently released their third album dedicated to Eastman's music as part of a projected seven-volume series.
