Wilkes University is currently inviting applications for the position of Master Electrician / Lighting and Sound Designer within its Division of Performing Arts. This full-time, salaried position is crucial for supporting the various performing arts programs offered at the university, including a BFA in Musical Theatre, a BA in Theatre Arts, and a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. The successful candidate will play a vital role in overseeing lighting and sound for theater productions, concerts, and lectures held in the Darte Center for the Performing Arts.

Key responsibilities for this role include supervising all aspects of lighting setups, managing student crews, maintaining equipment inventory, and providing sound design services. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach a few courses annually, pending qualification, and will contribute to the lighting and sound design for ballet productions staged by the Wilkes University Conservatory.

Candidates with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree are preferred, but those with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) coupled with substantial professional experience will also be considered. Essential qualifications include prior experience as a master electrician, familiarity with both analogue and digital sound boards, as well as strong communication and time-management skills.
