Artists like Nando Dixkontrol shaped its intense sound, leading to a nationwide craze by the late '90s which included iconic tracks. Scott Jenner's introduction of mquina to North East England transformed the genre into a vocal-led sound embraced by local youth. Despite skepticism from southern England, the scene thrived in the North East, evolving into a form of urban folk music. Recent years have seen a revival in both Spain and the North East, led by new DJs and producers, ensuring the genre's legacy continues.
