Asake and WizKid took fans by surprise at the exclusive pop-up event in London on September 17, 2024, celebrating the launch of Asake's new album, 'Lungu Boy'. The event, called the 'Lungu Boy' block party, was hosted at LDN East in Canning Town and highlighted Asake's third studio album with free tooth gems, drinks, and Nigerian cuisine, including popular dishes like suya.

The highlight of the evening was the emotional moment when Asake performed his collaboration track 'MMS' with WizKid, leading to a heartfelt embrace between the two artists. WizKid expressed his support for Asake during the event, encouraging him to embrace his success and not shy away from it. As the album was played in full, a special DJ set featured classic Afrobeats tracks, including WizKid's 2014 breakout hit 'Ojuelegba', where he joined in to sing a verse.

This intimate fan event precedes Asake's highly anticipated second London performance at the O2 Arena on September 21, which is part of his upcoming 'Lungu Boy World Tour'. Following the London show, he will continue the tour across major European cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, and Dublin. For fans interested, tickets are still available here.

In a recent review of 'Lungu Boy', NME praised the album for its significant moments, but also noted that it contains several tracks that feel repetitive to Asake's previous work. Alongside the celebration, Asake faced controversy regarding his recent music video for 'Only Me', which drew criticism for perceived religious insensitivity.

Fans eagerly await the continuation of the 'Lungu Boy' tour, looking forward to more exhilarating performances and experiences that echo the vibrancy showcased at the pop-up event.
