British amplifier manufacturer Ashdown has unveiled its latest line of products, the SX range, which aims to blend classic tube amp sounds with modern innovations and affordability. Launched on September 10, 2024, the SX series includes three models, each available in variations catering to different wattage needs, from five to fifty watts.

The SX-50H, a 50-watt head, is one of the highlights of the range, featuring a configuration of three ECC83 and two EL34 tubes. It offers a basic clean channel along with two drive channels that are equipped with separate gain controls, allowing for a versatile sound from smooth overdrive to powerful distortion. The smaller five-watt models, on the other hand, are single-channel with a built-in digital reverb feature, enhancing their utility.

Connectivity is another strong point of the SX line: the amps come with effects loops and cab output options. Notably, the SX-50H model includes dual recording output jacks which can be used for live or silent recording purposes. A rear panel switch allows users to easily alternate between Stage and Studio modes, ensuring sound fidelity at lower volumes for home use.

Additionally, Ashdown offers three cabinet options featuring Celestion 70/80 speakers in various sizes (1x12", 2x12", and 4x12"), ensuring players can find a configuration that fits their performance needs.

The SX-5C starts at $729, with other models priced at $617 and $839, while cab prices begin at $333, making them accessible for musicians looking to upgrade their gear. For more details, visit the official Ashdown website or read through Guitar World.
