Baxter Academy invites applications for a long-term substitute music teacher from October through mid-January. As one of Maine’s ten public charter schools, Baxter Academy for Technology and Science aims to foster innovation in education.

The Vision at Baxter Academy encourages students to engage in work that inspires them, overcome challenges, and innovate with curiosity and creativity. Their Mission supports inquiry-based learning in a project-focused STEM curriculum that emphasizes real-world problem-solving, complemented by a humanities program that enhances communication skills.

Central to the Academy's unique approach is Flex Friday—a program where students undertake innovative projects, promoting collaboration, initiative, and reflection on their impact on the community.

Ideal candidates for the music teaching position will embrace Baxter Academy's STEM mission, exhibit high expectations for all students, and engage in authentic performance assessments. A proficient understanding of digital media and a passion for educational collaboration and innovation are preferred.

The role also involves mentoring students in year-long STEM projects, supporting them as they develop into strong communicators through various mediums such as filmmaking, photography, radio, and podcasts.
