Norwegian band Fixation has dropped their latest single, "Tyrannical Miracle," on September 5, 2024, as a precursor to their forthcoming EP. Having made international waves with their debut album, More Subtle than Death, Fixation is poised for further acclaim after receiving nominations and winning the Breakthrough of the Year at the Norwegian Publishing Awards.
In describing their new single, the group reveals that it embodies a raw and intense energy, featuring a dynamic fusion of powerful synths, heavy guitars, and strong vocal performances, augmented by hints of electronic music, stadium rock, and metalcore. Vocalist Jonas Hansen noted, "It's one of the most creative tracks on the EP, and the first time we've used blast beats. We didn't want to set any limits on what Fixation could be, but just create something that was fun and sounded great."
The single emanates from collaborative efforts within the band, initiated by guitarist Tobias Sterdal. Hansen mentions that the catchy chorus coalesced early in their songwriting process, indicating they recognized they had a standout piece. The band has recently performed at some of Europe’s most notable festivals, including Tuska in Finland and Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany. They completed a European tour in 2023 that featured performances with major acts like Devin Townsend and Annisokay.
