In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. shared their thoughts on the highly anticipated reunion of Britpop legends Oasis, which is set to occur in 2025. The global tour will feature performances in major cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with the initial 14 tour dates already sold out. In response to the overwhelming demand, Oasis has announced additional shows in London scheduled for September 2025.

Deegan III and O'Connell did not hesitate to convey their frustrations regarding the surge of nostalgia accompanying this reunion announcement. O'Connell expressed his indifference by stating, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest," drawing attention to a growing discontent within the music community about the overemphasis on legacy acts. Deegan further supported this sentiment, suggesting that the focus on established artists might restrict creative opportunities for newer bands like Fontaines D.C.

Mixing their viewpoints with their own creative evolution, Fontaines D.C. is advancing with their current project titled "Romance," which highlights the band's artistic growth and their commitment to contemporary sounds—an approach that diverges from the nostalgia they critique.

Looking ahead to 2025, Fontaines D.C. has a busy schedule, including a significant concert at London’s Finsbury Park in July, featuring support from Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. This lineup exemplifies the band's aspiration to cultivate a vibrant musical identity that challenges existing nostalgic trends.
