In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. shared their candid thoughts about the upcoming reunion of Britpop icons Oasis, scheduled for 2025. The highly anticipated global tour will include shows in major cities such as Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with the first 14 dates already selling out rapidly. Due to overwhelming demand, additional performances have been announced, particularly in London for September 2025.

O'Connell expressed his frustration regarding the nostalgia-driven hype surrounding the reunion, stating, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest." This sentiment reflects a broader concern within the music community about the impact that legacy acts may have on the visibility and opportunities for newer bands. Deegan III echoed this view, suggesting that the focus on established acts could hinder emerging talent, including bands like Fontaines D.C.

As they navigate their artistic path, Fontaines D.C. is currently developing their forthcoming project titled "Romance." This new album aims to capture the band's growth and their commitment to contemporary sounds while setting itself apart from the nostalgia they critique. Looking ahead, the band has plans for an ambitious concert in July 2025 at London’s Finsbury Park, which will also feature performances from Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. This event underscores their intent to forge a distinct musical identity separate from prevailing retro trends.
