In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. shared their candid thoughts on the highly anticipated reunion of Britpop legends Oasis, which is set to occur in 2025. The global tour will feature performances in major cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with the initial 14 tour dates already sold out. In response to the overwhelming demand, Oasis has announced additional shows in London scheduled for September 2025.

O'Connell did not hold back when expressing his frustrations regarding the nostalgia surge accompanying this reunion announcement. He remarked, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest," highlighting a growing discontent within the music community about the overemphasis on legacy acts. Deegan III supported this sentiment, pointing out that the focus on established artists could potentially restrict creative opportunities for emerging bands like Fontaines D.C.

As they navigate their own artistic journey, Fontaines D.C. is progressing with their current project titled "Romance," which showcases the band's growth and commitment to contemporary sounds—an approach that diverges from the nostalgia they critique.

Looking ahead to 2025, Fontaines D.C. has an eventful schedule lined up, including a significant concert at London’s Finsbury Park in July. The event will feature support from Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap, exemplifying the band's aspirations to cultivate a vibrant musical identity that contrasts with prevailing nostalgic trends.
