Alternative pop artist Gia Ford has officially released her highly-anticipated debut album, Transparent Things, via Chrysalis Records. This immersive album comes after the success of her recent singles, including Try Changing, Poolside, and Paint Me Like a Woman. The track, Housewife Dreams of America, accompanies the album release with an engaging video available to watch here.
Ford recorded Transparent Things at the iconic Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, collaborating with veteran producer Tony Berg, known for his work with acclaimed artists like Phoebe Bridgers. The vocal performances and lyricism on the album have been described as haunting and introspective, with the themes largely revolving around alienation and societal outcasts.
Critics have responded favorably to the debut project. DORK emphasized the record’s portrayal of outsiders, while Wonderland labelled it as everything one could hope for in a debut. The album's narrative features numerous eccentric characters, ranging from serial killers to lonely housewives, framed within a mythical and somewhat surreal lens.
To celebrate the release, Gia Ford is set to embark on an acoustic in-store tour across the UK starting on September 13th, with stops at various locations including Rough Trade West in London, Jumbo in Leeds, and Jacaranda in Liverpool.
