Anders Jrnesten, a Stockholm-based artist, brings a unique blend of folk and jazz to the Americana scene. With his latest single, "A Heart Split in Two," he pays homage to the harmonies of the 1960s and 70s, specifically drawing inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell. In an interview with Rachel Cholst, Jrnesten delves into his creative process and the journey that led him to music.

Having started his songwriting journey during the pandemic at the age of 41, Jrnesten reflects on how lockdown prompted his creativity. He stated, "I tried writing some songs, and now I can't stop writing new ones." His music, characterized as classic American acoustic folk rooted in Americana, is predominantly written at his bedside and recorded in a professional studio without a producer.

"A Heart Split In Two" stands out as a folk jazz waltz, revealing Jrnesten's intention to capture the dreamy essence of classic folk sounds. Despite having received little local response in Sweden, his music resonates well with audiences in the United States, Canada, and the UK. "I do a classic type of North American folk music that might appeal to an English-speaking audience," he noted.

Looking ahead, Jrnesten plans to release more singles throughout the fall and winter, with the possibility of compiling these songs into an album. He also expressed a desire to perform live, a new venture he is keen to explore.
