Jeonghan, a member of the acclaimed K-pop group SEVENTEEN, is set to commence his mandatory military service on September 26, 2023. This announcement was officially confirmed by Pledis Entertainment, the group's management agency, through a statement released on the fan community platform Weverse on September 12.
Designated as the first member of SEVENTEEN to enlist, Jeonghan will be following the military obligation required of male citizens in South Korea. As a result, he will not be involved in promotional activities for SEVENTEEN's upcoming mini-album or their 2024 'Right Here' world tour. However, Pledis Entertainment has reassured fans that Jeonghan will appear in several pre-recorded segments that have been arranged prior to his enlistment. The agency has also requested that fans refrain from visiting the enlistment site and to provide their support for Jeonghan throughout his service.
This announcement occurs shortly after SEVENTEEN received the Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which were held in New York City, underlining the group’s ascending prominence within the K-pop genre. Jeonghan recently concluded his live engagements with an enthusiastic performance at Lollapalooza Berlin, where he expressed his eagerness to forge lasting memories with their fanbase, known as Carats.
