Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and have extensive knowledge of orchestral instruction techniques relevant to high school instrumental music programs.

The role involves planning lessons, evaluating student progress, and supervising both ensemble groups and individual students in their musical development. Essential duties include maintaining accurate online records, recruiting students to sustain interest in the orchestra program, organizing performances, and participating in district and community orchestra activities, such as the ISSMA organizational contest and the Music For All Indianapolis School Music Festival. Additionally, the selected candidate will work collaboratively with other teachers to create an integrated music curriculum that meets educational standards.

Communication skills are vital, as the teacher will need to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and behavior.
