The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Professor on the tenure track, set to begin in the fall semester of 2025. This position is geared towards musicologists or ethnomusicologists whose research emphasizes global and/or popular music from the year 1800 onwards.
The duties affiliated with this role include a teaching load of two courses per semester, along with participation in departmental advising at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Furthermore, the appointee will engage in service to the department and/or college, fostering a collaborative environment within a vibrant team of music scholars, educators, and artists.
CWRU, in partnership with the Cleveland Institute of Music, offers a Joint Music Program that merges the advantages of conservatory training with major university research capabilities. This collaboration is situated in University Circle, which is also home to the Cleveland Orchestra and numerous cultural organizations.
Candidates for this position must hold a completed PhD in musicology or ethnomusicology by August 1, 2025. An active research agenda and dedication to teaching excellence are also required.
