Los Yesterdays, an emerging Latin soul band based in Los Angeles, California, have just released their debut album, Frozen In Time. The album was featured as the Album of the Day on August 29, 2024, by Fred Pessaro. Formed in 2017, Los Yesterdays, consisting of Gabriel Rowland and singer-songwriter Victor Benavides, has made waves with its unique blend of Chicano Soul, drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as Joe Bataan and the Delfonics. This LP marks a significant milestone for the band, showcasing their evolution since their initial singles began circulating in 2020.

Frozen In Time is characterized by its nostalgic sound that feels both classic and contemporary. The opening track, Nobody's Clown, features serene harp melodies intertwined with a salsa beat, showcasing the band's ability to deliver a timeless ballad. The title track embraces classic Motown influences, reminiscent of hits like Billy Paul's Me and Mrs. Jones. Other tracks, such as Something Happened, incorporate piano riffs with Latin swing elements, creating a fresh yet familiar sound. Each song on the album continues in this vein, echoing a blend of Philadelphia soul and the vibrant sounds of Fania Records.

Los Yesterdays’ album is released through Now-Again Records, a label known for its commitment to both vintage reissues and contemporary artists alike. They represent a new wave of soul music that appeals to both older fans and a younger audience, evident by the traction gained on platforms like TikTok. With Frozen In Time, Los Yesterdays not only honor their influences but also inspire a new generation of artists looking to delve into soulful, sample-forward music. The album is now available for purchase on Bandcamp.
