Scottish post-rock band Mogwai has released their latest single, "God Gets You Back," marking another significant addition to their discography. The new track is available now and features a blend of subtle beginnings which escalate into powerful climaxes, showcasing the group's characteristic sound. Drummer Martin Bulloch drives the rhythm with precision, while Barry Burns adapted to a creativity block by enlisting the help of his seven-year-old daughter for the lyrics.
The release follows a busy summer for Mogwai, who curates the Big City Festival in Glasgow, a showcase that welcomed friends, peers, and some of the band’s personal heroes. In addition to their festival hosting duties, the band’s 2021 album, "As The Love Continues," peaked at No. 1 in charts, solidifying their position within the post-rock genre. They have also recently premiered their first documentary, "Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound," directed by Antony Crook, which offers a deep look into their history.
Accompanying "God Gets You Back" is a new music video directed by Hand Held Cine Club (Justin and James Lockey). Fans can expect to see Mogwai on an extensive international tour set for February 2025, including three UK shows in London, Leeds, and Edinburgh. Tickets for the tour can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
