The legendary Detroit rock band MC5 has released a new single titled "Heavy Lifting," which serves as the title track for their upcoming fourth album, scheduled for release on October 18. This single follows two previously released tracks from the album, "Boys Who Play With Matches" and "Can't Be Found." The album features guest appearances from renowned artists, including Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, who described it as a testament to a lifetime of rock and roll excellence.

Produced by Bob Ezrin, the album "Heavy Lifting" continues from where MC5's 1971 classic "High Time" left off. In a statement, former member Wayne Kramer expressed the band's philosophy of depicting the current times in their music, saying, "We made an album that is in sync with the challenges we’re facing today, and that carries a positive message."

In addition to Morello, the album features appearances from Slash of Guns N' Roses, Alice in Chains frontman William DuVall, Living Colour's Vernon Reid, and Rise Against's Tim McIlrath, among others. The album will be available in various formats, including a double CD/LP that includes a live album from the MC50 live band. This live album was recorded in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band's iconic debut album, "Kick Out The Jams." The full tracklist for "Heavy Lifting" includes collaborations that promise to reflect the innovative spirit of rock music today.

Fans can listen to the new single on YouTube and look forward to the official album release next month.
