UK pop prog duo Tears For Fears have officially announced the release of their first live album titled Songs For A Nervous Planet, scheduled for release on October 25, 2023, via Concord Music. This highly anticipated project will feature a collection of the band’s best-known songs alongside four new studio tracks, including Say Goodbye To Mum And Dad, Emily Said, Astronaut, and the recently released The Girl That I Call Home.
In conjunction with the album's announcement, the band has released a music video for The Girl That I Call Home, which they describe as a heartfelt tribute stemming from a personal story. Roland Orzabal, the band's guitarist and vocalist, highlighted that the song, dedicated to his wife Emily, took several years to create and finally came together during a trip to Hawaii.
Adding to the excitement, Tears For Fears will also unveil a concert film titled Tears For Fears Live (A Tipping Point Film). The film captures their performance at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, TN, during their sold-out global Tipping Point Tour Part 2. Fans can look forward to the concert film's premiere in over 1,100 cinemas worldwide from October 24 to October 26, with tickets going on sale starting September 19.
Songs For A Nervous Planet will be available in multiple formats, including a deluxe triple vinyl set, a two-LP vinyl edition, CD, and digital album. Fans can currently pre-order the album, with details including tracklists and new artwork already revealed. This release marks a significant milestone for the band, which has a history dating back to the 1980s as they have never issued an official live album until now.
