Orlando police closes investigation into Pulse nightclub owners over 2016 shooting
The Orlando Police Department has closed its investigation into the former owners of Pulse nightclub, Barbara and Rosario Poma, concluding there is no probable cause for charges related to the 2016 mass shooting that killed 49 individuals. Despite requests from victims' families and survivors for accountability, evidence did not support claims of negligence or culpable actions by the Pomas. The absence of building plans and alleged security issues were investigated, but findings suggested that the Pomas could not have anticipated the attack by gunman Omar Mateen. The nightclub is now a memorial site, maintained by the onePULSE Foundation.
