British electronic band Seefeel has taken to revisiting its rich musical history with the announcement of several upcoming reissues. This includes the extensive four-CD box set titled Rupt & Flex (1994-96), alongside vinyl reissues of their debut album Succour and the maxi-EP Ch-Vox. The wave of nostalgia also brings a new compilation entitled St/Fr/Sp, which gathers several rare tracks including the single Fracture and an Autechre remix of Spangle.
Originally emerging in the early 1990s, Seefeel garnered attention for their unique blend of rock and electronic music, often associated with genres like ambient and post-rock. Their early sound, which includes the iconic album Quique, effectively sets the stage for what would evolve into the IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) movement alongside contemporaries such as Aphex Twin and Autechre. Through their experimental approach to music, Seefeel became distinctive for their textured soundscapes and innovative use of effects processing.
In a recent interview, members Mark Clifford and Sarah Peacock spoke about their artistic journey, highlighting how their influences, including the Cocteau Twins, shaped their sound. Each member of the group brings their background, as Clifford notes, "I was really into that whole 4AD sound."
Moreover, the reissues come at a time when electronic music is experiencing a resurgence of interest, allowing fans to explore previously unreleased material alongside cherished classics. Expect more from Seefeel as they prepare to release this new collection of sounds that span decades of innovation. Fans can check availability and purchase the new releases via Warp's official shop.
