Pres House, a welcoming spiritual community located at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is currently seeking a Music Director. This position plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant worship atmosphere while coordinating musical activities for Sunday services and special events.
Pres House is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for students, offering three main programs: Pres House Campus Church, focusing on worship services primarily for students; Pres House Apartments, providing purposeful living spaces; and Candid, a wellness initiative that promotes community connections.
The Music Director will work under the supervision of the Associate Pastor for Campus Ministry and is responsible for overseeing the music segment of worship. Key responsibilities include leading Sunday Worship musical activities, recruiting and training volunteer musicians, and innovating worship experiences through diverse music styles including contemporary, hymns, and student-written pieces. In this role, the new director is encouraged to maintain a high level of creativity in worship while also ensuring quality and compliance with copyright laws.
As part of the role, the Music Director may suggest new songs for worship, prepare bulletins and slides, manage the music library, and engage in weekly staff meetings to align with the core values of Pres House, which emphasizes mission ownership, cooperation, communication, and flexibility.
Ideal candidates should possess both musical proficiency and strong interpersonal skills, alongside a dynamic Christian faith to resonate with the community spirit. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $28-32 per hour, and includes additional benefits such as continuing education funds.
