Jeonghan, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, is set to enlist in the military on September 26, 2023. This announcement was confirmed by Pledis Entertainment, the group’s agency, which released a statement on the fan community platform Weverse on September 12, making him the first member of SEVENTEEN to fulfill his mandatory military service requirement.

Due to this enlistment, Jeonghan will not participate in the promotional activities surrounding SEVENTEEN's upcoming mini-album or their 2024 'Right Here' world tour. Nonetheless, Pledis Entertainment noted that he would appear in several pre-recorded segments planned prior to his departure. The agency urged fans not to visit the enlistment site and requested their continued support for Jeonghan during this period.

This announcement of Jeonghan’s enlistment comes shortly after SEVENTEEN won the Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which were held in New York. This achievement highlights the group's significant standing within the K-pop industry. Furthermore, Jeonghan's recent performance at Lollapalooza Berlin served as a notable highlight, marking his last live show before enlistment. In an interview before the festival, he expressed excitement about creating lasting memories with fans, whom he affectionately calls Carats.
