Simon Pyke, under his ambient techno guise Freeform, has unveiled his latest EP titled Four Flex One, released independently on September 6, 2024. Known for his contributions to the IDM movement during the 1990s via influential labels such as Worm Interface and Skam, Pyke continues to produce captivating soundscapes that evoke nostalgia while pioneering modern electronic music. This new release comprises four tracks, each showcasing varying facets of ambient techno and minimalism.

Among the standout pieces is the opening track, Moonbeams, a vibrant offering well-suited for dance floors, which effortlessly encapsulates the overall mood of the EP. Track progression takes listeners through Crocodile Part 1 and Crocodile Part 2, featuring foggy synths and rhythmic motifs ideal for an extended coastline drive. The closing track, Overnight Looking Down, veers into downtempo territory, presenting a serene soundscape marked by crystalline bells and a soft, fluttering background of wind chimes.

Four Flex One epitomizes calming ambient mosaics, making it a noteworthy addition to Pyke's impressive discography and the contemporary electronic scene. The EP is available for purchase on Bandcamp.
