The Visual Arts Program in the Department of Visual & Performing Arts at South Carolina State University is currently looking for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music with a focus on Music Industry. This position encourages applicants who possess direct expertise and cultural competence while emphasizing the importance of diversity and global engagement. Candidates are expected to demonstrate their experiences, particularly in terms of inclusion and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The new faculty member will be responsible for a range of duties, including teaching, creative work, and serving the university community. The teaching responsibilities will cover key courses related to music technology, commercial composition, recording studio techniques, and overseeing the internship program. Additional coursework may include performance instruction and aural skills, which will vary based on the candidate's qualifications.

To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Master's degree in music and possess substantial professional experience in commercial music, alongside a dedication to teaching excellence. Preference will be given to applicants with in-depth knowledge of commercial music pedagogy and expertise in music studio software platforms. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills are also highly valued.
