Temple B’nai Israel, located in Oklahoma City, is on the lookout for a dedicated Soloist/Musician in Residence as they celebrate their 120th anniversary this year. This reform congregation offers a vibrant community with rich history and a commitment to incorporating music into worship services. Oklahoma City, the 20th largest city in the U.S., provides a lively backdrop with its diverse dining options, educational institutions, and cultural attractions.

The position entails approximately 15-20 hours per week, primarily involving the preparation and leading of music for their weekly Friday (Erev Shabbat) services. Candidates with guitar skills are especially encouraged to apply. The chosen soloist will also coordinate music for High Holidays, direct a volunteer choir, and engage in special holiday services. Although not mandatory, the congregation prefers candidates who can tutor B’nai Mitzvah students and contribute to the Sunday School curriculum.

This is a remarkable opportunity for individuals passionate about melding music with worship, and the role can be combined with a Membership Engagement position or other roles for those seeking full-time employment. Interested candidates must submit a resume and a recent video showcasing their vocal talents suitable for Erev Shabbat services. For further details, view the original job listing.
