Denver-based pop-rock group The Fray is set to make their return with a new EP titled "The Fray is Back," which is scheduled for release on September 27, 2024. The band, known for hits such as "How to Save a Life" and "Over My Head (Cable Car)," had been on a hiatus since 2019 following a successful five-album run with Epic Records.

The Fray formed in 2002 and quickly gained attention with their emotional songwriting and collaborative approach to music. Their debut album, "How to Save a Life," released in September 2005, achieved quadruple-platinum status, propelled by the success of hit singles and strategic placements in popular TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Despite this success, the band decided to take a break to reassess their priorities and the demands of the music industry.

During their hiatus, guitarist Joe King continued to write songs, inspired by the creative opportunities presented during the pandemic. As King explained, the lockdowns allowed him to focus on music more deeply, producing a wealth of new material. Conversations with remaining band members, lead guitarist Dave Welsh and drummer Ben Wysocki, led to the decision to regroup and create a new EP featuring six songs, including the lead single, "Time Well Wasted."

As the band prepares for their comeback, King reflects on the journey they've taken, emphasizing the balance they've found between the pressures of the business and the joy of making music. The upcoming release represents not just a continuation of their story, but a new chapter, marked by a fresh perspective on their artistry.
