Jamie xx has revealed a new track, 'Waited All Night', featuring his fellow The xx bandmates, Romy and Oliver Sim. This collaboration serves as the final preview of Jamie's upcoming second solo album, 'In Waves', set to be released tomorrow, September 20, 2024, via Young. This marks the first time the three artists have shared a track since their 2017 album, 'I See You'.
The song was initially performed live at Glastonbury earlier this year, showcasing the trio's chemistry on stage. Jamie xx expressed gratitude towards Romy and Oliver, referring to them as both his best friends and musical siblings, and stated, "It's wonderful to have the gang back together, working in new ways. I wouldn't be here without them."
Romy and Oliver echoed Jamie's sentiments, expressing their excitement about reuniting for this track and their pride in contributing to Jamie's latest album.
'Waited All Night' follows the release of earlier singles including 'Baddy On The Floor', featuring Honey Dijon, and 'Life', which features Robyn. Jamie's eagerly awaited second album, 'In Waves', will be his first solo work since his critically acclaimed debut, 'In Colour', released in 2015.
For those curious about the direction of 'In Waves', it promises skittish beats, soothing piano licks, and intricate sampling that Jamie is known for. Check out 'Waited All Night' below and find more details on the album here.
