At the 2024 Mercury Prize, The Last Dinner Party reflected on the importance of community in their music and the profound connection they feel with their fans. Speaking to NME on the red carpet, band members Georgia Davies and Emily Roberts described how their debut album, 'Prelude To Ecstasy', which topped the UK charts as the biggest Number One debut album in nine years, has resonated deeply with listeners, fostering a sense of belonging among those who have faced challenges in their lives. "A lot of people seem to connect with the themes of the album," Davies shared, emphasizing the emotional resonance of their music for fans who have felt ostracized due to their identity.

The Last Dinner Party's debut was also shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, competing with notable albums from artists such as Charli XCX, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Ghetts, but ultimately the award went to Leeds band English Teacher, marking the first non-London winner in a decade. In their interview, Davies and Roberts expressed gratitude for their accolades including a BRIT Rising Star Award and festival appearances at Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds.

As the conversation turned to future plans, the band revealed they are working on an album of acoustic tracks and covers, featuring a rendition of Sparks’ 'This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us'. They shared excitement for their next studio venture, hinting at an evolution from their initial sound while remaining connected to their roots. The group remarked on how they hope to shift their aesthetic in a way that reflects their growth and ongoing journey in music. This commitment to artistic development and dedicated community-building continues to resonate within their endeavors as they prepare their next project.
