Erased Tapes Records has revisited the year 2011 in its latest edition of Erased Tapes Rewinder. This retrospective shines a spotlight on a significant year that introduced various acclaimed projects within the contemporary classical and ambient music scenes. Featured artists include A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Nils Frahm, Peter Broderick, and their collaborative project Oliveray.

"A Winged Victory for the Sullen" stands out among their catalog. As Adam Wiltzie recounted, the inception of this project was serendipitous, stemming from a simple invitation to a show in Bologna, Italy. Their self-titled debut has since been recognized for its ethereal soundscapes, deeply resonating with listeners, much to the delight of Erased Tapes founder Robert Raths. Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran's work truly showcases a unique blend of orchestral elements that captivate.

Nils Frahm, another key figure in this roundup, reflects on his album "Felt," elaborating on an unexpected aspect of his creative process. Originally conceived to respect neighbors during nighttime piano sessions, this record showcases the intimate sounds of the piano and the environment around it, creating a serene listening experience. Following closely, Peter Broderick's "Music for Confluence" has its own narrative, emerging from recording sessions in a piano shop during eerie nights in Berlin, supporting a documentary soundtrack that combines haunting melodies with an unsettling theme.

Additionally, the Rewinder features Oliveray's beautifully crafted "Wonders," born out of musical camaraderie during extensive tours. Raths characterized it as one of the label’s greatest treasures, reflecting the genuine artistic relationships that define the Erased Tapes ethos.
